Woman’s Club Tours New Library

Members of The Woman’s Club of Petersburg and their spouses tour the site for the new Petersburg Public Library. The new state-of-the-art building is currently under construction at the corner of Washington and Market Streets. A late December of 2013 grand opening is planned. Petersburg Library Foundation (PLF) Board Chairman, Bob Walker, and Project Manager, Fred White give an overview of the construction project and answer questions related to the function and planned activity of each room, computers, technology and parking. “What a wonderful facility it’s going to be for all of Petersburg to enjoy. I can’t wait until December” said Club President, Kay Freeman. Chairman Walker emphasized the need for the remaining $1.5 million dollars to successfully close out the PLF fundraising campaign. Walker also reminded everyone to purchase their commemorative brick that will be placed at the main entrance of the new Petersburg Public Library. The Foundation’s goal is to sell a total of 1,500 bricks. Club members and spouses who toured the new facility included Betty and Dean Angell, Ann Atkinson, Josette Brogan, Marylou Cumby, Kay and Jay Freeman, Pat Smith and Marilyn Walker.  Visit www.petersburglibraryfoundation.org and purchase your commemorative brick online or contact the PLF office 804.733.2387 x 30.
