Petersburg Library Foundation is a recipient of a Google Grants award!

On August 24, 2011 the Petersburg Library Foundation (PLF) was awarded a Google Grant for free Google AdWords advertising. PLF‘s ads are displayed alongside related search results on Google.com, and when people click on the ad, they are taken to the PLF‘s homepage. The Google Grant award has helped The PLF spread its message of ‘The Gateway to the World’ capital building campaign to the public and inform, engage, and connect with its constituents.

Virginia Birdies Donate to Library Capital Campaign

The Virginia Birdies Golf Club, Inc., (VBGC) presents Wayne Crocker, director of Library Services a check for $5,000 to support the construction of the new library. Established for more than 18 years, VBGC has held golf tournaments to raise funds to help or assist, local charities and youth organizations. The founder and CEO, Ted Cabral said “we have supported community groups and activities including the Children’s Home of Virginia Baptist, Inc., Southside YMCA (Petersburg), the Fort Lee ACS, and now the Petersburg Library Foundation.” Pictured left to right front row: Ted Cabral, Savannah Cabral, Ruby Weaver, Joyce Simmons, Wayne Crocker (Row 2)  Barbara Jones, TheElla Taylor, Charlie Taylor, (Row 3) Sam Smith, Ralph Ruffin. Petersburg CDC supports fundraising efforts for new Library

The Petersburg Library Foundation (PLF) received a $500 contribution from Restoration of Petersburg Community Development Corporation (CDC) to support the fund raising efforts for the new Petersburg Public Library. Board Chair, Regina Payne said “this new Library means so much to this community and for the residents of the city. This new facility will provide the tools for education, resources to improve literacy and connections to other community organizations”.

The mission of the CDC is to rehabilitate and provide economic growth and sustainability in the Harding Street and Halifax Street area. The new state-of-the-art library will be located on the corner of Washington and Market Street.
