The Petersburg Library Foundation was formed in 2002 with a mission to provide financial support for the purchase, construction and operation of a new library.
The Foundation welcomes you to attend the Grand Opening of the new Petersburg Public Library on April 26, 2014. The festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony!

New Petersburg Library set to open
In preparation for the opening of the new library, the Petersburg Public Library System will close the William R. McKenney Library, 137 South Sycamore Street on April 14, 2014.
Patrons will be permitted to drop-off items using the outside drop box. This month the library will grant amnesty to all patrons who have overdue library materials. The new Petersburg Public Library will open on Saturday, April 26, 201 West Washington Street. The day will kick-off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00am, followed by a Community Day Event at 11:00am, including tours of the new facility. The new library will have a teen center, Healthy Living and Learning Center, the READ Center of adult literacy, the Small Business Development Center, imagination station for children, a café, a patio area, and drive through services.
